The Spotted OwlHocking County, with its numerous state parks, cliffs, caves, and the gorgeous Hocking Hills, is a beautiful place. I'm told that annually, it attracts 2-million visitors, double the number who go to Yellowstone Park each year. If you come to Hocking County sometime soon, be sure to check out one of these great places to eat while here. (The Four Reasons is in nearby historic Lancaster, county seat of Fairfield County.)

[IN THE COMMENTS: I'm corrected on my information regarding the numbers of people visiting Yellowstone Park. Thanks for that! Nonetheless, Hocking County and southeastern Ohio are beautiful.]

I grew up in SE Ohio, and so I'm not just expressing a bias and no doubt a lot of things in Ohio get double the number of people who travel the vast distances to Yellowstone. However, Yellowstone on average gets a lot more than 1,000,000 each year. In fact, this year, the number topped 3 million and is usually close to that total (though this year was an especially good year - it's still always over 2 million). There's a story out just the past week about Yellowstone's visitation totals for the past year - see this.
Cheers,
Jim
I've read the Hocking Hills are the third most popular tourist spot in Ohio-behind Kings Island and Cedar Point. Don't know how accurate that is.
Other great eateries-LJ's, in the Artisan Mall on W. Hunter Street. Great sandwiches, salads, DESSERTS, and coffees. My all time favorite is the Village Cafe in Laurelville. Best home cooked food-EVER. Another interesting place-Etta's Lunch box on 56 towards Lake Hope. Food is so-so, but the lunchbox collection is phenomenal. The owner can predict your age based on the lunch boxes you recognize.

I just printed off your comments and we'll keep your list in mind. All three of the places you mention look wonderful!
We were in the Artisan Mall the other day, but LJ's was closed. I remember seeing it five years ago when we stayed at Old Man's Cave for New Year's and thinking it looked good. We'll definitely have to check it out soon!
Thanks.
Mark
