WE are the church....His followers. Not the people who fill buildings in order to raise money for pastors to live in mansions, drive bmws and use their religion as a tax write off. I believe it scares church goers to death to believe that people can truely have meaningul, strong relationships with Christ minus the church. I believe for some their relationship is dependent on the church. Until you get your head out of that box that religion keeps you in and truely seek God every where you go, not just ur social meetings on sunday you cannot fathom the truth. I dont yearn for social meetings or making my preacher rich. I yearn for God! Worship can take place in thousands of ways. Not just during sing a longs and donations sessions.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3543355.post-29000744587038340012009-07-04T01:43:16.857-04:002009-07-04T01:43:16.857-04:00Jade:

Fortunately, I know many genuine, authentic people who occupy pews on Sunday mornings. I hope that you get to meet such folks yourself.

MarkMark Danielshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18205344762960756655noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3543355.post-62034300900322694672009-07-04T01:27:14.912-04:002009-07-04T01:27:14.912-04:00I am a Christian without church. I used to go to ...I am a Christian without church. I used to go to 'church', religiously, for years. If the institution we call church today could exist without that ridiculus religious sub-culture, then I would love to be apart of it. But unfortunately I cannot stomache another 'same as always' Sunday morning meeting or the pleasantries of another forced converstation with someone who has their perky Sunday face on. I would much rather meet some downtoearth real people than sit in a pew.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16134104514921968066noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3543355.post-87262564402174179762007-02-23T18:45:00.000-05:002007-02-23T18:45:00.000-05:00It doesn't look like the first response that I ref...It doesn't look like the first response that I refer to in my above comment took.

My response to your series of letters became so large that I couldn't contain it in your comment area, so I posted it on my own blog (spencertroxell.blogspot.com). I hadn't noticed the fourth part of the series when I began writing, so it's not included in my response. I have been turned off by the way certain churches have gone about collecting money in the past, but don't factor this into my feelings about church as a wider subject. I realize that every organization requires funding in order to keep running, so I don't begrudge it.Spencer Troxellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03750605353914336538noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3543355.post-29830554561874448102007-02-23T18:40:00.000-05:002007-02-23T18:40:00.000-05:00Something that I should probably add (that I didn'...Something that I should probably add (that I didn't include in my prior response) is that I am also inclined to believe that a good relationship with God doesn't boil down to simply 'being a good person'. It's important to try and be good, and to honor your own moral compass, but more important may be an increasing awareness, or exhumation of the iceberg, if you want to get fancy.Spencer Troxellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03750605353914336538noreply@blogger.com
