There are two bloggers I wish could have been at our conference in Los Angeles. Our discussions and fellowship would have been enriched by their presence: Deborah White and Rob Asghar. I also hope that Rob will get back into blogging.
Both are evangelical Christians whose politics is largely liberal. They prove what John Mark Reynolds asserts (and I've asserted): God isn't a Republican or a Democrat.
Thank you, Mark. I live perhaps six miles from Biola's campus. Had I realized you would be here, I would have pushed you to make time for lunch. :>)
ReplyDeleteAs you may know, I was one of the original speakers set for GodBlogCon. A few months later, Ipolitely declined the opportunity after I was treated with obvious apprehension and even suspicion and distrust. Someone feared I would say something inappropriate and/or unfitting, and inconsistent with Hugh Hewitt's thinking.
I have no desire to make other Christians uncomfortable, so I assumed that I was not a fit for this get-together....and I believe I was correct.
I have read the GodBlogCon blog, and it sounds like great fun for all who attended.
Again, thank you for the kind thought.
Deborah:
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that you were one of the original speakers set for the event. You would have done a fantastic job!
John Mark Reynolds suggested what I think should be the only criterion for participation in the event: A willingness to affirm the Nicene Creed.
My only thought about next year's gathering is that the name should be changed to ChristBlogCon, more clearly defining it as a conference of those following Jesus Christ. Next year, Lord willing, we will have lunch!
Blessings in Christ,
Mark
