Mike Laprarie has a really interesting post on Tommy Dorsey, the Big Band leader known as a smooth trombonist. But it's a different take on Dorsey as it profiles him asn afficionado of the trumpet, his roughly-played instrument of choice. The post includes several MP3 recordings of Dorsey on trumpet, sounding a lot like Louis Armstrong to me. Although a generation removed from the BigBand sound, I like much of the genre, especially when it closely borrowed from jazz. Check out Mike's interesting post
