Selective Trust is No Trust At All

Eric Swensson posted this on Facebook this morning:
"If you believe what you like in the gospels, and reject what you don't like, it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself. (Saint Augustine)
This absolutely cuts to the heart of what is most wrong with the Church--liberal and conservative--today.

  1. Selective trust in the sense that you mean it here is a wonderful thing. It's not 'no trust at all'; it's trust in a method for discerning truth rather than trust in the authority of a book or person to tell you what is true.

It's much more hands on, and allows for much more individual accountability.

    I'm all for it.
