Faith Tidbit #5
The concept of "sin" is used in two different ways in the Bible. One is a way with which we're all most familiar: A specific action that violates God's will, whether it's murder, taking God's Name in vain, or thievery. But those specific sins result from the second way that the Bible talks about sin. Here, it's our common, inborn human condition. (We sin because we are sinners.) Sin is our inborn penchant for thinking and acting for ourselves, irrespective of God or others. King David confessed being afflicted from this condition from birth. The Bible says David isn't alone; we were all born that way.
