This is a new award I just invented because it suits one guy very well. Cincinnati Bengals back-up quarterback Jon Kitna is my choice for this accolade. Kitna was last year's comeback of the year. Many of his teammates and Bengals fans were upset when, during the offseason, head coach Marvin Lewis announced that second-year QB (and Heisman Trophy winner) Carson Palmer would be his starter. But Kitna has taken the situation entirely magnanimously. Paul Daugherty of the Cincinnati Enquirer, one of my favorite columnists, has a terrific piece on Kitna, which appears in today's paper.
