Ann Coulter's Schtick is Disgraceful

Proof. I started out feeling sorry for Coulter and her pathetic need for fame at any cost. But pity has given way to disgust.

(Also, go here, here, and here.)

[UPDATE: Dean Barnett has it absolutely right here.]

[ANOTHER UPDATE: The term f****t, whatever your beliefs about homosexuality, is as offensive and dehumanizing as the term n****r. The fact that Coulter got away with saying it in polite company and that she received applause afterward, is disturbing. Would Michael Richards have received the same response?]

I agree. She's the first conservative shock jock...well, maybe not the first, but the best.

The best way for the left to treat her is to copy the way cultural conservatives eventually learned to diffuse Howard Stern: Ignore and laugh her into obscurity.

Eventually she'll be just another niche item, and maybe (if she's lucky) the answer to a trivial pursuit question.

Mark,

The really offensive part of this is her welcome in Christian circles as a speaker. I respect D. James Kennedy's ministry, but I sent them a letter expressing concern about their inviting Coulter to speak at a "Reclaiming America for Christ" conference.

I got back a meaningless form letter.

Thank you for being among those who are willing to say that Coulter's speech is unchristian, unloving, ungracious and unwelcome.

Coulter isn't a liberal problem; it's up to conservatives to refuse to give her a platform or a welcome. And people need to know that she doesn't speak for Christians.
